rollercoaster

October 30th, 2008 by libbaliciouz

it’s been 7 whole months since my last blog post about TMII. At that time i was still a carefree university student only thinking about the happy things in life. it’s weird how things can change drastically in a matter of months.

old love, new love, old people, new people, old homes, new homes, heartbreaks, tears, laughter, the joy of alcohol *nyieh*, europe, latin america..

i miss those TMII times like crazy. but i can’t wait for december to come.

can’t wait to see what the next 7 months will bring. lots of joy, i hope. i’ve had enough rollercoaster rides, thank you very much.

TMII: The Next Big Thing!!

March 19th, 2008 by libbaliciouz

My main question is: When was the last time that u’ve been to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah?

I’m guessing most of you would probably answer “Duh.. like back in elementary school or junior high”.

And I’m pretty sure that the trip was on some mandatory school field trip, rite?

I just got back from TMII today, and FYI it was AMAAAAZIIIIIING!!! (oh, and it was on our own will. Not because of some study tour from our campus). I expected it to be somewhat “bareable” since i needed to visit it for my final project anyway, but let me say that it was waayyy more than Wow.

I don’t know if it was because of :
1. the fact that I’m finishing up a design major, and my design school happens to appreciate indonesian culture like really2 highly. or,
2.the fact I had eaten a bunch of MSG- loaded food on the way to TMII, and caused minor brain damage that made me go delusional for most of the day.

(go figure)

This brilliant plan of ours that had began being executed at approximately 9.00AM this morning, was a part of a scheme Ina and I had plotted up so we could have some senang- senang before the craziness of our final projects actually kicks in. Dalih kepada para orangtua: mau liat museum buat TA bu.. So after gathering up other TMII- enthusiasts, we finally left Bandung on Ina’s Big-Red-Magical-Lala-Car (It’s big, red and fits lots of people.. And Plus Ina is one of the best drivers i knowr). After a one hour lunch break at Tamini, the hippest mall in that part of town, we finally arrived at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah!!

Admission charge:
per adult: Rp 9.000
per car : Rp 10.000

There were 6 of us Bima, Dian, Tiara, Jeje, Ina. But the guy didn’t charge the car (?). Maybe he didn’t notice that we were riding a big red mitsubishi car? See.. Ina’s car is truly a magical Lala- Car.

Highlights of the day:

1.Museum Indonesia: It has lots and lots and lots of Indonesian culture stuff. You’ll find from ordinary wayangs to really amazing statues. My favorite was this mural of the Indonesian map. It’s painted using mega- mendung motifs (probably because the person came from cirebon). This person has converted Mega Mendung into Mega Cool.

2. Museum Transportasi: This place has a collection of vehicles dating back to the beginning of time. Hahaha. Just the thing i need because my final project’s on public transportation. Oh Oh.. And there were old locomotive trains there that we could actually climb onto. One of the trains was a special train that was only used by the president, Pak Sukarno. I don’t think TMII did much to renovate it, so it still had that old- town antique atmosphere. And I swear that there was a moment when i started daydreaming that i was one of the independence fighters back in the days, riding on the train, ready to be shipped into battlefield.

ceritanya perjuangan naek kereta perjuangan

3. By the time we were finished at the transportation museum, we were waaayyyy far on one side of Taman Mini, but the magical lala car was waayyyyy on the other side. Taman Mini is hugeee. And our little feet were too tired to walk back to the car. So finally we sent Jeje hanging on a cable car to cross taman mini and fetch the car so he could pick us up. Why only jeje? Because the admission fee was Rp20.000,-/ person and we were kere college students who’d rather crawl than pay 20.000 for a cable car ride. We ended up sharing the fee for one person. Off went jeje, 20 meters above the ground, on a lonely, wiggly, old, and rusty cable car.

4. As we were sitting around waiting for jeje to return with the car..Ahey! What goes there?? It’s an empty little tour train (you know, the trains that go around the amusement park really slowly). The so called “conducter” of the train spotted us and realized we were in need of rescue. So he waved to us and motioned for us to jump on the train. So we did (despite jeje was already 20 meters above the ground, wiggling, alone, and half-scared to death). But the little train did not stop nor even slow down for us. That meant we had to run and actually JUMP onto the train. For those who have watched Darjeeling Limited, yes it was exactly like that (even with the throwing of our bags and stuff). Or you can imagine the scene from little miss sunshine, only this was not a yellow VW, but a train. And there we were. Safely on a slow moving (grounded) train heading back to the car.

Jejepun pundung..

5. Keong Mas. It was closed. But a trip to Taman Mini is never complete without a quick shot in front of Keong Mas!

rain is no reason to not take pictures!!

The day was slowly turning into evening which meant it was time for us to leave. Partly unsatisfied because we only got to see 2 museums, we drove off (with jeje still pundung) back to Bandung. Hff.. So much to see, so little time. Itulah Indonesia Mini. Apalagi Indonesia.

For those of you who want to visit TMII, i recommend u start really early in the morning.. Or not, u’ll totally regret it like me (ohhh.. how i long to go back there..).

PS: Makasi buat Pak Intan buat nyaranin kita pergi kesana..

Green Eggs & Ham, Dr Seuss.

March 14th, 2008 by libbaliciouz

Dr Seuss:
A name i grew up with thru my happy carefree child years.

A new movie called Horton Hears a Who just released in this peaceful town of bandung. I haven’t gotten around to seeing it, but those who had already seen it said the movie was like totally great. But when I mentioned the name Dr. Seuss, most of them seemed unfamiliar with this certain pen- name.

hoho..
Dr Seuss was an american author, and cartoonist. His most know work are his children’s books such as Cat in The Hat, Green Eggs & Ham, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Horton Hatches the Egg, and etc etc etc. He passed away in the year 1991, but his children’s book are still read by everyone across the world.

Here’s an illustration of The Cat in The Hat, one of his most popular character.

And here’s some his other famous characters:

Dr_seuss

i’m thrilled his books are finally getting adapted into the big screen, And may i say, Jim Carrey does a verrrryyyy fine job playing Dr Seuss characters! can’t wait to watch.

inspired by ewlpichwa: d’Sound

March 13th, 2008 by libbaliciouz

I’m writing this blog because my dearest friend elfitramercredi just wrote a blog about the d’Sound concert we went to last nite. here, read it. i love the way she writes
http://kalkunpanggang.multiply.com/journal/item/11/jatuh_cinta_lokasi_pada_laki-laki_bercincin_kawin_
but she has another blog at mearcholad.blogspot.com *why must people have more than 1 blog?? that’s like having more than 1 diary!* once again, read it. Her writing style’s really entertaining.. especially since my name pops up all the time in her blogs ;D

Elfitra wrote about the concert, but im gonna write about my preparation before the concert cause it was like heboh bgt.

So yes, last nite was the d’Sound concert. For those out there who don’t know, d’Sound is a band from norwegia that plays Jazzpop with a blend of funky elements (kata wikipedia). If you still don’t know it’s alright, because i myself just realized that this band even existed around 1 month ago. *i dig jimmy eat world. jazz is so not my cup of tea*. D’sound was coming! And they were goind to have a concert at Sabuga for only 75.000/ ticket. So what if i don’t know a single song, it’s only SEVENTYFIVE THOUSAND, man! One tenth the price of the BSB ticket. And anyways, most of my friends were going.

Finally yesterday came. My highly anticipating friends were all ready and set to watch the concert. But By yesterday morning, I still hadn’t done my homework of memorizing their lyrics. But I knew, if i could score a 90 on my biology exams, that meant that I have a brain like a sponge. So i put off my lyric- memorization agenda. Talk about procrastination.

2.00 PM I had scheduled to fetch some dresses that Tiara, Ina and I had made at cimbeuleuit. Ina texted “Lib, gw brangkat skrg yah”, so i hopped into my trusted Jasjus. Just my luck. At 2 PM sharp, a major thunderstorm struck the town of Bandung. And my beloved Jasjus was helpless against all the wind and rain. The roads were getting flooded and i panicked because jasjus had an automatic transmission which meant if i hit the breaks at anytime during a flood, water would come rushing into my engine which would cause my jasjus to mogok. Luckily, i got to cimbeuleuit. The tailor was across the street, which meant i had to cross the street that had turned into a river. Gathering up some courage, i successfully trottled across. imagine the beach, with the waves splashing against your body. It felt like it. Only it was in the middle of cimbeuleuit.

By 5:30 PM, my room had already been invaded by Tiara *who had already memorized all the lyrics of the D’Sound songs on her playlist*. It was primping time and She was all.. “Oh my, My hair is so mbak mbak. Aduh gw kaya mbak2 ya?? Gimana ya biar ga terlalu mbak2?? Haa.. Apa gw sobek aja ya jeans gw?? Punya amplas ga lib?? Yaudah deh cutter!!”

Tadaaa..

Boys.. Us girls will go to any lengths just to look good. appreciate us. we work very hard. even though it’s just to get a nyantai look, such as ripped jeans.

6.45 PM, we picked up Ina at her (wonderful beautiful amazing) house. Ina had just come down with a cough a couple of days before, and last nite she was still coughing painfully. With a box of wybert, OBH combi, and a bottle of aqua packed in her bag she proclaimed “ntar gw ga bisa nyanyi nyanyi dehh.. Kalo ga gw bakal batuk batuk bgt!” (tapi ujung2nya dia nyanyi2 dan teriak2 dan joget joget kok di samping panggung).

7.10 PM, we were infront of elfitra’s place, but it turned out she was still sewing up her torn jeans. Earlier she had texted me “Gw mau pake baju cantik sekali ni. jadi gw bareng ya berangkatnya”. So we waited as our dear friend sewed up her jeans. In the meantime, I started memorizing d’Sound lyrics. At least the choruses. By the time Elfitra came out with her pretty outfit on, i had memorized 4 lyrics! Yeay me!

7.35 PM, we arrived at dapur eyang where our final 2 passengers where waiting. Gea and her boyfriend, Mas Adi (ato akrabnya dipanggil Boncel. Because of his height. or lack of. hehe). Gea was still fussing about which shoes to wear. She wanted to wear a pair thick- soled mary janes that actually belonged to Tiara. But that meant she would become taller than her boyfriend. Just to give an illustration. Gea is a centimeter taller than i am. With flats. And I am taller than Mas Adi. With flats. See. Finally after all the fuss, she settled for a pair of purple flats with purple balls of bulu bulu, and we drove off to Sabuga (With mas Adi in the driver seat.. oh how i avoid driving*.

7.50 - 8 PMish. in a full packed honda jazz car, with 5 screaming girls and 1 helpless boy in it. That new hip n happening band, RAN was going to be the opening band for the concert. We played their song on the tape player , and none of us knew the lyrics so we just went lalala.. Luckily, I had my dearest cellphone with me, and i;m like the biggest google maniac. “Gw cari liriknya skrg! kita latian dulu!!!” and in an instant, i had the lyrics on my phone browser.I WORSHIP GOD and GOOGLE.

After waiting and waiting, we finally got a parking spot. I was kinda nervous because of the recent stolen Jazz issues (17 Jazz cars stolen?!).. But well. It was Kunci stir, Bismilah, car lock *peep peep* and we were off to the concert.. forgetting about the hustle and bustle and stress that was going on in our lives.

aah.. it was a great nite.
and i agree with elfit. It was really malem bassis- bassis ganteng sedunia. mmm…

forget about final projects! it’s just us, hot base players, and d’Sound tonite! yeea!

like, soo proud of myself..

March 9th, 2008 by libbaliciouz

I guess there’s a first time for everything, and it seems like this year is going to be a year full of firsts.Like the first time I knitted a complete scarf, the first time I successfully followed an aerobic class, and last nite was the first time I danced. hahahh. Like.. Horray!
It probably sounds like “so what?”, but really, I was like tremendously proud of myself last night. Hahaha. I am Libby. Libby is beatless. The Beatless libby could never follow a beat in her whole entire life. That is, until 2 weeks ago when the beatless libby decided to join her friends for a dance routine thingy.
Despite being bullied around *dijadikan anak bawang yang selalu ditertawakan dan dimarah- marahi* i really really did enjoy myself.
Love you, girls for being patient enough to actually put up with me.. Even though you guys laughed when i had my offbeat moments, but everyone was kind enough to teach me the routine reaallyyyy slowlyyyy *just slow enough for my body and brain to coordinate properly* . Love you, Jeje, for not going into a ball of rage because of the borderline- kinky outfits, and for supporting me and everything *i remember a time before jeje when this certain someone threatened to declare me as murahan if i ever did consider to dance.*

“I Can’t Live Without Rage-A-Hol”

February 21st, 2008 by libbaliciouz

Some psychiatrists say it’s okay to let out your feelings once in a while. So now i’m taking fitness and (unsuccessful) aerobic classes so i can move and let all my rage out. It’s such a pity that i have to have this anger in the first place because beside this little glitch in my life, my life would be so perfect *sigh*.

So this is my problem *mmm-haa*.
I
Can’t
Help
But
To
Hate
Her
So
Damn
Much
and also the person that made me hate her in the first place.

HELP. This hatred is driving me insane! Everyday I drive home daydreaming having a catfight where i can pull all her hair off of her head, or intendingly crash her soap-box-like car *oh that would be the day..*
Anyone know how to get rid of this anger? I’ve tried ignoring the fact that she exists, but everyday I accidentally see her ngangkang2 di kampus and i feel like pushing her off a bridge Ughh. And I hope the best thing you ever make is that lame purple- snailish thing you call a design. sheesh.

I need a solution, people! Help! If I keep it all in, i’ll explode into a big ball of stress (and if i do explode, i’ll blame her all over again).

I simply do not like people who:
1. Ruin other people’s happiness
2. Sentralis Melankolis Guys (lihat blog sebelumnya) who can’t value what they already have.

mmm- ha..
mmm- haaa..
mmm- haaaaaaa… *mau sok ikut2an elfit berYoga sebagai anger management*

syal-lalalala..

Just a lil blog entry to celebrate the completion of my first scarf!!

My mom first showed me how to do a crochet back when i was still in elementary school. My at-the- time-was- a- baby- brother had decided to play surgery with my barbies, so i ended up with a pile of naked dolls. My mom being the wonderwoman that she is, came to the rescue and knitted up some teeny little skirts.

Oh, and coincidentally at that time at my school, there was a sudden craze over DYI stuff so Being the follower that i was (and is), i persuaded my mom to teach me some simple stitches *believe me,, my mom hates teaching me. we end up in fights all the time because of her attempt to teach me something*.

Eversince then i’ve been attempting to crochet a complete scarf. Never succeeding though, due to my habit of losing interest in the middle of doing anything. That is, until now.. I’ve been promising a scarf to this certain someone (sebut aja nama dia Jeje) since July last year. It had been a long time since a played around with a crochet needle. So i was extra excited when i first started the project. My mom had already been sceptical (”udahh belii ajaaaa”) but nevertheless i kept on crocheting day and nite. But on like day 4 or 5 i became completly bored, so stopped working on the project dengan alasan kenapa ga panjang- panjang ya ni syal. hahaha. Anyway, in the time between July until two days ago, there have been at least 4 unsuccessful attempts in starting a new scarf.

But then, just as i was about to give up on my plan forever, my lil friend ina came along and gave me a brilliant idea. I won’t say what the idea was, because then people will just say “heran knapa lo ga kpikiran sih lib dr dl?”. So on Friday afternoon i drove up to Tobucil, a local DYIhaven+bookstore, and bought these really cute balls of yarn. And now i am proud to say that last nite (saturday nite) i have succeeded in completing the whole 2meter scarf! *props for me!*.

Now all i wanna do is drive back to tobucil and buy some more balls of yarns so i can make a scarf for myself! hurray..then 1 for my mom. then a blanket. then a cap. then lalalalala.. *sigh*

*note: i still owe a yellow scarf to shalindra, one of my bestfriends from the good ol days*

Another nu year blog

January 1st, 2008 by libbaliciouz

Continuing last year’s-nu-year-blog (Nu Years & Kampung Toga), i’m writing down my newest batch of new years resolution.. Turns out it’s quite a laugh and a half reading my previous resolution, because it turns out I got ZILCH done according to the list. NAda.. Never done my prayers, never eaten any healthy greens, and my poor poor car hasn’t been washed since nia ramadhani broke up wif bams. oh dear lowrd.

Anyhoo,, After 10 rounds of pasta, mashed potatoes, steak and new year eve fun fun fun, i’ve finally rounded up my list to three main points. tatataadadaaadaaattt

*cheesy sound effect and drumrolls*.

1. Since i failed terribly on my last resolution of “doing my prayers more often”, i’m re-doing that number for this year. Despite the spice girls screaming “will this de ja vu ever end”, my blessed soul still believes i still have a chance on getting this one right. Oh well, man didn’t land on the moon in one night (although still in much controversy about the moon landing thingy), and old rome wasn’t built in a day. HAH.

2. Getting my own dough *read: Money money money moneehhhheyy to the tune of the pprentice*. It seems like my wishlist for gadgets has been doing nothing but getting longer and lohoongerrr. It ain’t gettin any shorter tho, coz i ain’t got no dough to by me them fancy things yo. But no. i will not be lured by intriguing prospects of the world of MLM!

3. Weaving a broader network of friends and important contacts. Hahaha. Yes.. I am a believer of NETWORK!! *kok kaya presentasi MLM bgt ya*

And ofcourse there are also the obvious things like graduating and continuiing studies *duh*. But i’m not writing it down in my resolutions cos i feep failing on resolutions. *libbyyyyhhh..*

Happy New Yearssss 2008!!!
